What is mixing?
Music mixing is the process of combining the recorded vocals, instruments and other sounds in a song into a balanced, cohesive mix.
The mixer’s job is to support the artist’s vision: bring the important elements into focus, resolve clashes between sounds and make the record translate across headphones, speakers and other listening systems. Working from the recorded session or stems and a reference mix, the mixer shapes the sound, incorporates feedback and prepares the approved mix for mastering.
